I am looking to buy a 1980 Corvette and wanted to run the VIN # throught carfax. I tried to do it but found out they don't have any info on cars older than 1981. Does anyone know how I can get a history report on this car to make sure it's a good car? Also, when I take it to the mechanic, what specifically should I look for? Does anyone know if there are certain problems associated with this particular year? Thanks for your help! :seeya
Carfax says something about older cars, but I didn't look, as I have an 81.
From what I have heard here, frame rust is important. Also brakes. And auto trans cuz they are $$$. Might depend on where you will drive (Arizona vs. No Dakota). And what type of driving. (Sunday afternoon vs pedal to the metal. ) But a good mechanic will (might) know all that.
Mine was obviously owned by a crazed drug dealer. Trashed. Overall maintenance should be easy to spot. Anyway good luck and best wishes.. :seeya
