I plan on buying a set of the TT II's, but was wondering if it was possible to run the 17"x9.5" TT II's on the rear and use the 17"x8" on the front. Will the 9.5" fit on the rear with minor modification (no cutting)? What size tire would you guys recommend for the 9.5" and the 8"? If it's too complicated to run the 9.5" out back I'll just stick with the 8" which I know bolt right on. Thanks in advance.
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (Ryan77)
I think what what doing will work but don't know, hopefully someone will chime in.
Also http://www.tirerack.com is good for finding tire for different rims. go and find some tire you like and hit spec. and it shows what tires fit on certain size rims.

You'll need offset trailing arms to run 9.5's on the rear. 17x8 with 4"backset is what will bolt on (see photo).
:yesnod: :chevy :chevy :yesnod:
Actually, you don't need offset trailing arms to run 9.5's on the rear. I seem to remember answering this question a couple of days ago in a different thread. :)
From what I've learned from the forum, if you relocate the e-brake bracket or file it down, then you should be okay with a 9.5" 5in backspace wheel with a 3/4" spacer. It's almost a given you'll have to do something with the e-brake bracket, but some C3s are fine without the spacer while some require it.
I've got some old emails where a forum member explained everything in detail from his experiences. Please e-mail me if you would like to see them. I doubt I'll remember to come back to this thread later!!
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (Ryan77)
surprisingly, my e brake does work (for now atleast) :D . I'm still trying to find a price/supplier for those offset trailing arms too.
Why? You don't need them. Don't waste your money unless you're going with 17x11. I guess you don't believe what I was saying?
If you must waste your money; try ecklers, mid america, and I think vette brakes too. You'll find them for about $300 for both if I remember correctly.
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (FroDaddy)
No, I do believe what you told me, I just wanted to know how much it would cost not to have to mess with the e brake. But, I'm thinking it's probably simpiler to move the e brake than switch trailing arms, if anyone knows how much of a pain either one is, or have done either one, please chime in.
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (Ryan77)
Replacing your trailing arms will be a major PITA. You basically would have to remove all the rear suspention, and then afterwards would have to get the rear end aligned. so that's another $100-200 depending on how well you know your mechanic : ) If it were me, I'd put it off until I had about $2k free, then replace everything in the rear end with good parts from Vette Brakes. monospring, offsets, new sways, poly camber rods.
just my two cents.
question - with those 3/4 inch spacers, do you need new longer lug studs?

Yes, I believe you will need longer studs. (I forgot that!) Also, you might be able to file down the ebrake bracket instead of relocating it. It would be much easier than putting offset trailing arms on! :seeya
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (FroDaddy)
Well, the trailing arm idea is out, so now the question is, how do I file down the e brake bracket, or where should I move it to? Who sells the longer studs? If anyone knows where to find directions on how to do this, let me know :D
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (FroDaddy)
which wheel is 17x9.5 with 5 inch backspacing? the wheel that AR lists for 84-87 vettes has a 6.4 inch backspacing. that would require a 2.5" wheel adapter from vette brakes. I'm trying to figure out if there is any reasonably priced way i can get TT2's on my '69 without having to order custom offsets... those are extra expensive, aren't they?
Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (blndweasel)
My custom offsets were about $30 per wheel for the fronts and $50 extra for the rears. I don't know much about the vette brakes adapters, but I believe forum member mrvette has them. Perhaps he could be more help! :seeya
