Re: Another quick Torq Thrust II question...... (FroDaddy)
so, what specific size wheels did you put on yours? did you go with 4" offsets front and rear? or are the spacers important to ensure proper caliper clearance? I measured the 15" wheels on my car right now and they both (front and back) have 4" offsets from the back. I'm looking for 17's that take up the same amount of space as my bulging 15"ers take up right now, without pushing the wheels outward from their current positions (I like they way they sit in the fenders right now) i have a little more space to work with in the back since i went with the zl-1 flares.

You're right, stock vettes have 4" offset. From what I hear, a 4.5" offset will make the wheels come completely flush with the stock fender well. I ordered 3.5" backspace on an 8" rim for the front, and for the rear a 5" backspace on a 9.5" rim for the rear. That's 4.5" to the fender well.
If you go with 17s, you'll have to get a shorter tire. I think 35-45 is what you'll want to get. For the widths, on a 9.5" rim you'll want 275 or max 285. Since you have fender flares, you can go with an 11" rim and 305 tires. I don't know about caliper clearances, backspacing, etc. on anything above a 9.5" rim.
Also, what I'm telling you is from what I've learned from another forum member and researching on the forum. I haven't put 17s on my vette and never will (since I'm selling it). It's hard to find someone with this type of real world experience on the forum. Good luck!
