Recommended budget upgrades
Currently:
edelbrock rpm performer manifold
edelbrock 1405 600cfm carb
Hooker sidepipe headers
Hooker Side pipes (unknown insert)
Original Block (>150k miles, unknown if over-bore)
Champion 3 core radiator
TH400
3.08 diff
Casting 3782461 heads
Unknown cam
Plans:
Holley carb (suggestions? Cfm?)
Different Side-pipe inserts (suggestions?)
TH200-4r
3.55 diff
Aluminum heads/w angled plugs (suggestions?)
New cam
DIY cold air intake. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-intake-2.html
I do use this car as my daily driver but at the moment she has the power of a Yugo. I cant get a chirp out of the rear tires unless its wet.
For the carb, I am thinking of buying a used 670cfm holley and rebuilding. Im not set on holley im just fed up with edelbrock.
I dont know alot about rear diffs. None of the local junkyards have corvettes. Is there a list of other models I can snag one from?
Heads and cam ... I know there are better options out there. I just dont have the tech knowledge. Because of the side pipe headers I need angled plugs.
Im a programmer and am designing a custom digital dash.
Can someone recommend a good product for converting the mechanical speed output on the transmission to a digital signal?
Im currently out of commission due to a cast on my right arm and possible wrist surgery, so im trying to price out and buy the parts I need now.
There are lots of head and cam discussions here so I am going to skip that topic. I think the advice will be to get the best head you can afford and don't over cam yourself.
If it were me, I might keep the Edelbrock carb and invest in a wideband Air/Fuel ratio gauge to help you really dial it in. I think Edelbrocks use metering rod and jet combos which may provide better fuel efficiency if this is a daily driver. I like the a/f gauge either way you go.

If they are the reverse flow, You can gain a substantial power increase by swapping in something like Max flow inserts.
On my 74 I now have a wheel hopping problem (While roasting the rubber) after getting the reverse flows out of there.

The Max flows were $180. Insane power difference VS cost

As for the rest of your stuff, a matching cam, converter, and rear end gear swap will completely transform your car.

Some have reported problems with angle plug heads and the same headers. I'm going to find out this winter when I swap my new project for my 383.
