Default 6 Volt Battery and storage

OK- I am at it again.

I wanted to increase storage space- and not run a luggage rack.

This past summer running my 73 on an almost 3000 mile week long roadtrip, I realized how storage challenged these cars are!!! ESPECIALLY if you have a female passenger...

I have read several threads on relocating the battery- most made not a lot of sense...Under the hood- no room there(especially in mine w/ the dry sump) and the heat is not a good thing for batteries.

Where do you put it? Just to gain a little extra storage in the car.

Here's my solution for the 71 restomod-

Twin Optima 6volt batteries run in a series- tucked up in the storage compartment on both sides.

I will have a "jumper post" located under the hood - salvaged from a BMW ...just in case I need to jump somebody!!!

Gotta make a mount and a cover for them-

Also looking for some good terminals- running 1/0 gauge wire. Most terminals look all pretty for car stereo applications...I'd rather have functional versus pretty...

What do you think?

Richard

Much more practical to add the rack.... Get the brackets to carry the top panels.. or luggage, ice chest ect...

Cool idea Richard! I bet those batteries would also fit in the space between the rear bulkhead wall and the gas tank for even more space inside the car!

I have used these exact terminals, I like them a lot.

A flag terminal on the first battery:

And a straight or 90 terminal on the second:

Corvettes and practical in the same sentence?

No T-Tops to store- and thinking about putting on one side a 12volt cooler-

make something like this fit-

THANKS Steve-
Yes- those are the type of terminals I was looking for- saw some on eBay- but you are always weary of the quality from there!
