As there is no need for AC over here I have already removed the condenser, compressor and hoses.
Can I also remove the evaporator/housing and still keep the heater working?
I have an 80 apart right now.... the blower sends air through the evaporator (& housing) before it gets routed for heat. If you remove the evap housing, the blower will just be blowing into the engine compartment. I believe you can remove the evaporator, but the housing needs to stay, and you will have to seal up the holes.
I did this on my '71 with no problems. Every part of the A/C was removed except the housing assembly against teh firewall, and it had no effect on my heater. Suggestions: Save all o-rings, bolts, brackets, etc. Cap off any open hoses or lines left on the car to prevent debris from entering the system. Good luck.
yes you can remove every thing the heater box for a air car can be removed but if you want heat you will need a non-air heater box i found one for 50 bucks you also have to change the heater core. jim
