Default HELP!

This has been bugging me some time.
What are the 2 "brackets" for under the 80-82 bumper.

I mean the 2 that are mounted under the bumper bar itself (the one mounted on the enersorbers and has the impact cushions on it)

Marck

nobody knows this? Yeehaa, I just asked the mother of all questions :)

Wel since they obviously don't do anything on my car I'll use them to mount my new mufflers to once I get the car back together

I always assumed they were tow brackets, or strap down brackets as well.

I'd believe strap down brackets before tow brackets. However why would anyone put strap down brackets on a car... must be something else [;)]

Marck, According to the 1980 Assembly Manual #14028582 Bracket is noted as a "Towing Bracket"

Go for it!

I had already decided that was where I was going to mount mine also. Hope this helped.

I got a deal on a ( get this ) 3 1/2" BORLA Sportsman 16" Circle Track SS Muffler for $50 NIB. Well the deal was good but the other one to make a pair was $269.00 from Summitt. They are a Three Chamber muffler and are not like the straight through other ( and less expensive $134 ) model. I think it will be a workable piece and it's gonna look mean hanging out the back! I've always liked the way GKULLS Vette looks from the back with his 3's sticking out. JIm

I got stainless steel dynomax race mufflers, only drawbakc is the oval input pipe wich needs some fabrication to adapt to my 3" round pipes.

I realy like the borla's but couldn't resist these for the money, if I didn't get this deal I'd have bought the xr-1s also.

These are the ones I have:

DR. GAS OVAL TUBE SECTIONS, BENDS, & TRANSITIONS
MADE FROM 2" TO 5" DIA. TUBING

Our forming process produces perfectly shaped ovals and shapes transition tubes. They are free of pinches, buckles, and diamond shapes. Maximum cross section is maintained by stretching the tubing during forming. All tubes are made from Aluminum Killed Draw Quality (AKDQ) steel. This material is very resistant to cracking and splitting.

Oval Sizes Standard and Custom

Standard oval size made from 3 ½" dia. tubing is 2 ½" x 4". This size offer increased ground clearance with minimal loss of cross section. Dr. Gas can ovalize, including transition tubes to as thin as 1 ¾" inch for extreme ground clearance applications. Also, we can ovalize any tube sizes from ½" to over 6".

In 3 ½" tubing (NASCAR maximum), four different bend radii (center-line radius) are produced, ie" 3 ½" (1D), 5 ¾" (1 ½"), 7" (2 D), and 9" (2 ½ D). These tubes are offered in any shape from round, oval, straight or in bends up to approx. 110 degrees. There are to many to list here. Please call for any application. (801) 563-1111
BALL AND CONE ADAPTER JOINTS. These clamp together joints can be used in almost any location in the exhaust system. These are great to install near the mufflers in conjunction with headers. They make removal of the exhaust system for service needs a snap. With the two joint locations they are self aligning and are gasketless. 2 ¼", 2 ½" and 3" sizes are available. The 2 ¼" and 2 ½" sizes can be joined for a step in tube size at the joint.
Priced in pairs.
2 ¼" to 2 ½" - $42.95 2 ½" to 2 ½" - $42.95 3" to 3" - $59.95

REDUCER CONE HEAVEN. So many cones, so little time. Dr. Gas makes both long and short draft cones in many sizes. Ovalized cones are also available, as seen on our frame clearance tubes, and merge collector. To many to list here. Please call (801) 563-1111.
