The borrowed picture shows a bracket, at the top of the lock pillars. AIM shows that to be correct for convertibles, but my car doesn't have that bracket? Anyone know why my 69 convertible doesn't have any brackets?
Hi 69,
What year car is that pic from?
The 71 AIM shows a bracket bolted to the top of the lock pillar but it's quite different in configuration than that one.
What does the top of your hinge pillar look like?
Is something, or do you have reason to think, something, is missing?
Regards,
Alan

Here's the 71 AIM detail.
Hi Alan,
Thanks for the reply. The picture was posted by another forum member who listed as a 69. I took notice my car didn't have those brackets. My VIN is 708,1xx so I wasn't sure if maybe it's an early/late production thing?
Hi,
What John posted certainly makes sense,
It appears that it went from no bracket (68), to the bracket in the photo (later 69), to a more elaborate bracket in the later AIM (70-71?)
Notice the note for item #7, the bolts #6, and the bolt #8 which seems to be the purpose of the bracket.
Regards,
Alan
Thnx JC68 and Alan71. I was hoping that was the case. I also found AIM shows a rectangular interior light in the rear but mine only had a single bulb attached at the decklid spring. All indication it was also changed by the factory part way through 69 production. Once again Thnx for the help.
