GOOD...Then..are you using the lever on the steering column to try to turn on the HIGH BEAMS???
IF you are...when you pull back on the lever...do you hear a 'click'????
The dimmer switch or high beam/low beam switch is mounted on the left side of the steering column. It should have a yellow, tan and light green wire going to it. The GREEN wire is your high beam wire. The TAN is the low beam.....and the YELLOW is the POWER from the headlight switch. SO...if you are not getting battery voltage to the LIGHT GREEN wire at this switch....and you if you MANUALLY press it TOWARDS the firewall to make it CLICK...and the LIGHT GREEN wire does not get battery power to us...then you more than likely have a BAD dimmer switch (high beam/low beam switch).
Hard to say any more due to you need to do testing with a VOLTMETER
no click when you pull the lever on left hand side of column
no power at the green wire on the headlight fitting ,only one light on each side is lights up

It's quite the adventure to replace that switch. Took me a while just to find a replacement. I know at that time Eckler's didn't have it, might have gotten it at Zip.
Need to take a lot apart. Don't forget to make a bolt to lock the telescopic steering column down before pulling the pressure plate (special tool, Autozone)

He is not changing the lever...he is replacing the dimmer switch ...which is NOT inside the column....but rather outside the column on the driver side...accessible from under the dash area.
It is still FUN to service.
AND A TIP: Use an ALLEN set screw to lock down the telescoping shaft so your lock plate suppressor will work correctly.
