You mind bringing us up to date.

Its been hard following you the last few weeks.

Like a shotgun, every post you were going in a different direction.

sold car, backed out, looking at 72....looking at BB...looking at 73...now sold, and not buying steel bumper.

I'm worn out.........

Would that kit work in a 79? What does it all include?

Although I'm not actively building and selling the kits anymore (they're pretty time-consuming to put together), there are a few of them still floating around. The following is the initial "press release" I did on the kits when they first came out. I still provide tech support, parts, and warranty on the kits, whether you bought one from me or from somebody else. There is one kit for the pre-HEI systems, and one for HEI 1975-1979 (kit does not work with Comp Controlled Ignition). Here's the old info:

Complete Distributor Recurve Kit now Available to Forum Members

In my 25 years of tuning and tweaking Corvettes and Musclecars, I have found that very few people really understand correct ignition timing and performance tuning. My custom rebuilt distributors, with a custom ignition curve, have been very popular with Musclecar and Rod owners in my local area (Denver), and I have rebuilt and set up quite a few via mail order as well. A properly tuned and set up ignition system is imperative to peak performance, yet it’s so often overlooked or improperly done.

When I wrote a couple of tech articles for the Forum regarding timing and timing advance, the response and interest was incredible. I’ve been answering e-mails every day regarding proper tuning techniques, and the questions and comments you’ve been sending me have been very good. It’s obvious that a lot of you would like to be able to set your car up for some good performance by being able to properly tune and curve your ignition system. Problem is, nobody makes a kit that combines all the right parts, with some good instructions, to make this as easy as it should be.

In response to Forum requests, I now have available a complete, very professional distributor advance kit that has just the right combination of parts to make your stock point-type or HEI distributor system really come alive. This kit will take the slop out of your distributor, give you a quick precise ignition advance curve, tailor the curve to the right length, and provide a correctly matched vacuum advance curve for the new system. I have put together an 8-page instruction pamphlet with photos and diagrams, providing detailed step-by-step instructions for the removal, modification, and installation of the distributor. The instructions also contain detailed timing and tuning instructions, giving you all the information you need to set up your ‘Vette for peak performance. The kit is only compatible with the stock GM distributor – not Mallory or Accel units. It can be used with “UniLite” and similar conversions provided the conversion has not eliminated or modified the centrifugal advance mechanism.

The specifications and the parts selected for the kit have been developed over years of tuning experience, and the kit was designed with advice and consultation by H-O Racing Enterprises (NHRA SS/KA Record Holder), Sarno Racing Heads (2000 Bonneville Stock Body World Speed Record Holder) and Maximum Performance (NHRA Engine Builder & Supplier). The kit has been tested and run on multiple engines to verify performance and reliability. The parts selected for use in the kit were selected for quality and precision. With the encouragement of this Forum, I believe we have designed and assembled the best “out-of-the-box” distributor recurve kit available anywhere, with the best instructions and tuning tips you’ll ever find.

I am offering the kits to the Forum Members for $39.00, including shipping (U.S only. I can ship International, but will need to charge a little more for the postage). And for those of you who sent me $40 for the first kits, I’m sending you a $1.00 refund in your kits. I’m not putting a bunch of profit on this, since I do this as a hobby. I can assure you I’m never going to recover all my time spent on this project and for all the parts I gave away to people during the development of the kit, so please don’t send me any rubber checks – that would hurt (and then I’ll get ticked off and say bad things about you… I’ll tell everyone that you drive a ’75 Mustang Notchback and that you live in your mom’s basement ). I have kits ready to go with postage applied, and will ship upon receipt of payment. Personal checks are just fine with the condition noted above.

Since you never know what you’re going to get when you mail order, I am offering an unconditional money-back guarantee: If you don’t like the kit for any reason, throw all the parts back in the bag and send it all back to me. I’ll send you a refund check (less $1.60 postage) immediately.

To order, send your name, address, phone number and vehicle application (including any modifications) with payment to:

Lars Grimsrud
1285 Cressida Court
Lafayette, CO 80026

If you would like further information about the kit, drop me an e-mail. I can also send you my phone number via e-mail if you’d like to talk “live.” I do not have e-mail or ‘Net access during the weekend, so be patient if you’re trying to catch me during that time – I’ll tag you back ASAP.

Thanks for all your encouragement in the development of this unique product. Hopefully its availability and use will be one more nice benefit of being a Forum Participant!
