Default Radiator Tie-Through Mounts?

hI all!,

since I am having issues with clearance to my BB radiator to front sway bar, AND will be going electric fan...any ideas on low clearance with HIGH CFM...???

found the flex412...but it has those 'tie-through' mounts holding to the radiator cores...I am not a big fan, especially on a new alum radiator, but it seems like the only option...thoughts?

thanks,
Ron

Just out of curiosity, what's the issue with the swaybar? (or the rad)

For the record I run the dual SPAL with home made brackets (same Z bent shape as most)

I would not use radiator ties through the radiator-just asking for leaks. Don't ask me why I know-not on my C3 though….

Hi Ron-

I'm not sure what radiator you are using or if you have a stock sway bar but you could have a issue with one or the other based on what you are running.

There are aftermarket radiators on the market place that do not have the clearance in the lower hose neck required to clear the factory sway bar. The lower neck should have a indentation in it for the bar to clear and without it, you'll never get the radiator in the car.

The lower neck should be a swooping curve vs. a a 90 elbow too.

Willcox

The rad is Tom Dewitt's so it should be good to go. The sway bar looks fine as well.

Is the lower neck hitting the say bar?

the lower neck seems fine. havent put the hoses on yet...but should be ok.

the issue is how close the sway bar is to the radiator, WITH the angled and closer proximity to the radiator...the sway bar comes up 3" from the bottom of radiator AND is 3.5" between BOTH...(small picture)...

the 3300 cfm electric one i got was 4.1" and sat 2" above the top of the radiator...so I am searching for high flow/cfm, with less than 3.5 clearance/depth OR shorter in overall height...thinking 16.5 inches depending on structure...???

for a BBC pushing 550hp...thinking minimum of 2000 cfm?...

Here's a link to the dual spal measurements
https://www.a1electric.com/spal/specs/30102052.pdf

Also, since they are not as tall, you can mount them higher so there is only brackets at the bottom

These are my brackets (test fitting) but they mimic the images I've seen from vendors

I'll see if I have one with the bar in place

Took a couple of shots of the area (ignore the dirt)

I've actually got less room on the spreader bar than on the swaybar.

Anyway, HIH

Zip ties through the radiator are very bubba shade tree cheesy.
2000cfm...no, try about 3500 for that kind of HP
Like the spals mooser is using or the flax a lite 410 skinny fans 480 more cfm thick fans but but suppose to fit a c3 I plan to run it with my 454,
Mooser you sb or bb?

Dewitts did offer their brackets separately but when I sent emails they didn't bother answering so I bent up my own out of some stainless sheet I had leftover from another project.

2000 cfm should be tonnes with the alum. rad. Lots of guys running lots of HP with single 16" SPALs which are only around 1900cfm.

I am in orlando florida, I have a mild-ish 454 and will run ac and have auto tranny,
I will not take a chance with a 16" when that big black magic fan wouldnt even keep my 86 c4 cool stuck in traffic on a hot day....
I guess I am not as lucky with you on cooling.

I have Addcos 1.125" sway bar, the same Dewitts radiator with dual spal fans and the frame brace on my 70 454 also. Everything fits wits with no interference.

Why not contact Dewitts regarding their dual fan set up or the new brush less fan set up

Which spreader bar is that, I copy yours I know it will fit...
