TI AMP location/picture
There is discussion on the NCRS board that the amplifier was not always installed where the dimples are, and that unless oriented 90° the bolts would not match up with the dimples. The dimples are approximately 4" apart, the bottom two bolts on the amplifier are 2 3/4" apart.
There may be some assembly line anomalies out there, remember GM hired and fired assembly line workers, people changed jobs, many time the knowledge was passed down by word of mouth from one worker to another.....so there are variations on the AIM " details " out there that are legit " as built " Corvettes, this is one of my big pet peeves with some of the NCRS crowd.....Years ago my buddy restored a beautiful 1 owner 1959 Vette 245HP dual quad motor, this thing was VIRGIN! No hot-rodder had ever had his hands on this motor, during regional NCRS judging some " troll " declared the OEM carburetor tags were wrong.....the " correct " ones were sourced from Paragon Corvette and installed, along with some shot ball joints/steering tie rod ends because the new MOOG parts my buddy had installed were not " correct " after the Vette scored it's " Top Fight " award, it drove like a piece of crap! The guy who owned the Vette never really enjoyed the car after spending a considerable amount of money on it, it went to an auction where it failed to meet resrve but, was sold at a $50K loss soon afterwards ( sounds like " fun " to me.....)
I can understand the want to keep a car original but, I also like to actually take my Vettes on long drives on public roads and would have no desire to do that if they were sporting worn out original parts to gain " judging points " from some " troll " who might be an " expert " but, in reality probably has some basket case at home that hes been working on for years that will never again travel safely down the road with reliability ( trailerd to car shows....OK if that's what you want....by all means be my guest, that's not my cup of tea.....)
There are plenty of " bench mark " Vettes around already if you need a refrence vehicle ( I think your stupid to try to build one out of a car that isnt one ) what the appeal is of a car dragged out of a barn sitting on 4 rotten original tires never to be driven again....I don't understand.......I am in the camp that actually enjoys driving them down to road on occasion

Mine was stuffed back on the outside of the long bumper bracket up next to the front "wedge shaped" undernose metal support bracket. This puts it about 3-4 inches away from the inside of the fender- at about the 10 o'clock position (looking forward inside of the DS wheel well.
Sum
If you look in your wheel well, does it look more like this?

That's where its at on my 70. On cars without TI, there would be dimples in the inner fender for the hole location.
