Default New owner needs help

Just got the car I've wanted for 37 years, 1977 corvette. Has lots of issues, some of which I've already figured out. Here are 2 that I'd like to address next. My windshield wiper switch seems to be bad but I can't find anybody who sells the switch assembly unless it's called something else. Any suggestions? Bigger problem...rear window has no trim or finish material of any kind interior or exterior so of course it leaks. It's being held in place with some type of black stuff that's just smeared all over the glass and looks awful and doesn't keep the water out. How is the window supposed to be installed, with what finish trim and any sealer if any to prevent leaks? I'd really appreciate any help

Is this the switch you need?

Looks like everybody has discontinued that switch.

Try Dr Rebuild for the switch.

I've already got my roll of black adhesive tape for the back glass on my '77, and when the weather warms up a little I'll be following the instructions I found at: http://www.corvettemagazine.com/tech...-installation/

My apologies if there is a rule about posting links to other discussion sites.

FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH:

It is super important that you get the surfaces clean when using this butyl tape for the back glass.

I will add that I do it slightly different than what is in the article...and that I apply the butyl tape to the BODY (5/16" thick butyl tape if I am not mistaken)....so I can control where i want it and the bottom edge...so that is not a big gap that can catch crap and be like a gutter. I have done it so much over the years that I know how far to drop down from the edge so when I install and press in the glass...and can actually see it sealing to the glass...that when it is done...and I run my hand across the bottom edge...a towel does not rub on the butyl tape....and yet there is not a gap that will hold crap.

The switch was available in reproduction for about six months... then it went away as fast as it came back. I did a search and found this though.. They say the still have one.. you might email them and see. It's in Europe and that converts to about 150.00 plus shipping.
