Anyone have a Shifter Cable Stretch out
My car is not shifting properly into gear......Sometimes it wants to stay in Reverse when I put it in park....It will go into park after I turn the car off. What do you think the culprit is?? Could it be the shifter cable or what?? :confused:

Unless the cable is frayed or binding, I would look for the problem where the cable attaches at each end. Make sure nothing is worn sloppy or coming apart. Make sure the outer part of the cable does not move in the retainers at each end.

Is there a rod that leads up to the park lock mechinism in the steering coloum? Mine had one. steel rod that leads up to a lever under the master cyl on the coloum. the rod has a block with a set screw that can be adjusted. Maybe the mechinism is bindind or out of adjustment.
