After 40 years and 44000 miles the alternator will get some attention. Will drop it off at the repair place tomorrow.
Its a 61amp but what does the other id marks represent?
These are not the stock exhaust manifolds and cant remember where i got them, the alt mount pivot assembly just looks odd but it works. Any pics of a stock 75 alternator mount would be welcome.
Are there any mods for alternators other than brushes/bearings?
The bracket is a standard alternator mount for your car and was used widely by Chevrolet. The bushing in the (rear) bracket is "self-centering" and allows for variations in thickness of the alternator attaching point. It ensures that the forward position of the alternator will remain consistent regardless of the castings mounting point thickness.

100544 is the correct part number for an early '75 with A/C. The date code of 4 H 7 means 1974 August 7th. It's probably the original unit.
I wouldn't let it out of my sight. Most overhaul shops do not return the same unit as you hand in and you end up losing an original component.
It takes maybe 1/2-1 hour to overhaul this type of alternator. I'd do it myself.
Just curious I guess, are your cylinder heads stock or were they replaced with ones which do not have mounting boss/bolt holes? On my 75' the alternators lower mount bolts directly to the head. Glad you got your original taken care of. It still amazes me that I can order all the parts for starters and alternators and get them out of the Detroit warehouse. Mike

No my heads are not the original ones, from a 68 i think and there is no provision for bolting to the head. When i did the head swap 38 years ago i just went to the boneyard and looked for exhaust manifolds that has a provision for the Alt mount.

That's what I thought might have happened. Thanks for the verification. Mike
P.S. I love the look of your car, and its history, very cool
