I used the sequence described in the GM AIM for the tightening sequence on my L-82 aluminum intake on the AFR heads on my engine…
From AFR's instructions:
"We suggest NOT using a torque wrench on intake and exhaust manifold bolts, accessory bolts, or spark plugs. Inaccurate torque wrench values can easily strip the smaller threads. Just snug up hand tight with a wrench only".
I just snug tightened with a wrench on my bolts…no leaks. I did use thread sealant on the bolt threads.
It would be a good thing......after the car is driven a few times.....to re-check the bolts holding the intake in place.
Some gaskets compress causing the bolts to "not be as tight" as they should be, which leads to small vacuum leaks.
And, any bolt with oil seepage around the bolt-head can be removed/sealant added to the bolt threads...then re-install the bolt(s)
(Only remove one oily bolt at a time/reseal the threads/re-install the bolt....then go to the next oily bolt and re-seal it)
Good advice about checking the bolts after a few heat cycles. Mine did loosen up and I did tighten a few once after the initial install but they have been good to go now.
