Can someone point me towards the post that explains the MSD ignition theft protection. Doing a 6AL install and some other wiring upgrades while the engine is out. Thanks T
From: Las Vegas - Just stop perpetuating myths please.
I believe its just the extra white wire from the box to ground. U just install a switch in the wire and attach that to ground. The switch - where ever u install it - becomes a kill switch. I would use a switch with a tamper cover and install out of sight but with access from the drivers seat.
The WHITE wire is the ignition KILL circuit. CRANK your engine and GROUND the WHITE WIRE and the engine will DIE.....THUS...IF this white wire is grounded...the engine will spin over but not fire up...do to NO IGNITION.
How, or where you do this is up to you. I have my way of doing it. And it is s good circuit to have...and it is not just for theft.
Reminds me of a '70 GTO/Lemans convertible with FI on it, years ago....
car had several interlocks, all wired into relays behind the driver kick panel....the logic was.....turn on the key, hit hidden button one, then button two, then to hit the switch to start....trick was...the interior lights had to be ON or it was no go.....and the button sequence had to be correct or no go.....
STEAL THAT!!!! bitch......You may hook it, but you not driving it.....not for a week, anyway.....

DUB installed mine, and it works flawlessly. If I have to kill the engine in an emergency I can shut down the engine in half a heartbeat! It also gives that extra comfort that no one can steal my Vette (easily).
You can also just put a toggle switch on your 12v switched power wire to the MSD box.
For example my MSD box 12v is ran to an Accessory port on the fuse box. So I just broke the wire, added a hidden toggle switch and that's it.. Flip the switch and no power to the MSD box, and it can't start.
I've gone a step further and added a wireless switch to mine along with a Bosch relay.
I now have a key-fob with an "On" and "Off" switch. When Off, the white wire is grounded. When On, the white wire is not grounded. It ends up being an On-Off switch for my car.
The main reason for the Bosch relay is because these systems only switch the POWERED (12V) side of the circuit and not the GROUND side. Even with the unit off, activated, or whatever, the ground is always grounded and not switched. The Bosch relay allows me to switch the ground.
It also allows me to have it default to a grounded condition. Remove the battery and the system is still grounded. Unless there is power and I have toggled it On.
DUB, he is #3 poster. You give good tech help. Thanks 'miken350' I'll use that fuel pump idea on the 6t8. T
AHHHHH....I SEE. I tired to figure out numerous typo's that could have occurred and could not think of anything...so that is why I asked. it didn't dawn on me to look at a members screen name.
I forget that SOMETIMES the simplest way answer is the OBVIOUS
