backed the vette out of the garage tonite, 15 feet and it shut off very quickly, on attempted re-start it turns over but acts like its not getting spark. my distributor is an Accel rebuilt HEI, 2 yrs old. did i read here that Accel has a problem with their ignition modules?any suggestions as to what brand of ignition module to buy? or should i just go to my GM dealer? BTW, the coil is about 3 yrs old. my neighbors, wife & kids helped push the vette up the driveway, so i at least have it in the garage. any help appreciated. my next door neighbor said the Accel module went out on his 67 Chevelle SS about 2 months after install.
Re: Trouble??? Accel ignition module= the culprit??? (Gary79)
If you have an Autozone nearby, take the module to them. They test them for free.
I've had an Accell module fail. But I also had numerous other brands fail. It was all in the same distributor. Never figured out why the modules failed in the particular distributor. It was a rebuild by.... Accell. I've had very bad luck with accell plug wires (junk), so now I avoid all things accell.

Never had Accel Fail..........But I would Steer Clear of the Pertronix II......I had two of those things fail on me and left me Stranded....Went to a mallory dual point tach drive and no more problems

thanks guys. i took the module to Autozone after my dentist (ouch) apptmnt yesterday and it checked out fine. some further checking with a meter indicates the coil is good, with the pick up coil possibly being the culprit.

I've had module fail, but the car still runs. When they have failed the car would only run well under light throttle. Part or full throttle would cause the car to misfire.
I have had an HEI fail to run at all, but this was the pick-up coil under the advance weights. To replace you have to pull the distibutor, drive out the gear pin so that the shaft can be pulled. Most manuals have a trobule shooting chart to use with an ohm meter to test it before you disassemble.
Lessons learned over the years: carry spare module, spare pickup and punch to drive pin out if required on the road
