Default thanks

I got an email from Lars "better start looking for another carb" on Jan 10th. On Jan 12th I started my search. Saw some on eBay but not good feedback and pricey. I was already $200 in hole from first rebuild. Searched my current forums, El camino Chevelle with no luck.
I remembered I was a member here so came to look around. I almost fell off the chair when in the classified here and I see the almost exact part number I need except one letter. But wait a minute the picture shows a different number than the ad, the Picture is the EXACT match. after some emails with GO VETTE GO John he just send that carb directly to Lars to save me some shipping. So on the 13th John sends the carb to Lars. He gets it Friday 16th. Has it up and running Saturday 17th morning on his test engine for testing. I meet up with Lars at 4PM the 17th. I wake up the 18th and install the carb. Attach the battery cable. pump throttle about 5-6 times. I have no interior in the car as I am doing the carpet but I just reach in and turn the key and VROOM.

lars was able to reuse some of the parts from my previous failed rebuild from a commercial place and saved me $50 from the usual price. used the best of the 2 to create one.

SO in a weeks time I went from to

BIG THANKS TO LARS and JOHN - GO VETTE GO

All from a guy who goes it for fun. I bought a new carb from Summit and had it dropped shipped. Felt good knowing he looked everything over and found a few things.

The secondary accel pump adjustment was slack and did not produce instant pump shot
Mixtures were set very rich (12.2:1)
Float bowl fuel levels were high - the primary side was very high
Idle speed was high

On the other side, the primary/secondary idle speed split was right on the money, which is unusual. The mixtures, although very rich, were all evenly set. All hardware was tight, and there were no fuel leaks.

Mixtures set at a perfect 14.2:1. This works very well with current pump gas, and produces great throttle response. Idle mixture screws are set at 3/4 turn out:

Couldn't ask for anything more.

That's awesome; Lars is awesome! Had some good times with him when his "World Tuning for Beer" tour came to Toronto a few years ago.
