Default Steering Column swap

Im in the process of swapping my standard column for a t&t and i noticed the acuator rod for the ignition switch moves forward on the standard column when turning the key and on the t&t it moves back when turning the key.Is this correct and can i just plug in to it even though the two plugs need to be repositioned?
My cars a 73
Thanks,
john

IF I at least knew roughly were you live...I could tell you...so not knowing if you are in the US or not...it is hard to say. BUT...if in the US,,,.this switch is common and you do not have to order one and have it shipped in if you have a local parts house....such as Oreilly's, NAPA, GM dealer.

There are unique ignition switches for the standard (non-adjustable) columns versus tilt and T&T columns. There is only one vehicle wiring harness so either switch (which is part of the steering column) has to connect to only one harness. That harness has two plastic connectors that plug into the ignition switch located on top of the steering column jacket down under the dash.

Yes, the two switches operate in different directions. When switching from one type column to the other, you will need to take the vehicle wiring harness with the two connectors and twist them 180 degrees to get them to plug into the new steering column ignition switch. After you twist them, you will find that there is only one way that both connectors plug into the switch.
