Hi, looks like I have to go into the dash and verify that my original headlight switch is working correctly WRT the vacuum control. The rheostat is not all that great on it so I thought if I am taking all the time to go in I might as well put a new switch in it.
So I see many for sale everywhere from like $10 to $100. Are they not all built in China and possibly the same MFG source? I cant imagine going to tooling for this unit for such a niche market.
Get one from a reputable vendor and put it in. It has to do with the vacuum switch for the headlights that other cars do not need...and the circuit breaker inside it that can cause the headlights to 'flash' on and off due to a cheap crappy circuit breaker being used....or 'upgrading' your headlights to halogens or ones that take more current....and the circuit breaker can not handle it....and that is when you re-wire the car and use relays instead to control them.
BTW, this switch is same used on MANY MANY GM cars. It's listed (and works) for Vettes but it does not have the vacuum switch. I found out the hard way going to my local store!
