Default A/C Aircon Heater Fix Guide

So i have issues myself and in trying to find what they are i am trying to understand how everything all works. Im still waiting on AIM manual from willcox to arrive but at the moment ...

I have hot air blowing at my feet no matter what setting
If i turn on HRT then it will blow out all vents except the top dash vent.
Using the heater switch doesnt change much in terms of how fast anything comes out.

A/C Max or normal doesnt work, Vent doesnt work, Defrost i dont think either.

AC 25amp fuse
is ok

Function control switch is plugged in. I am not aware of a test to see if this operates correctly like what ohm the pins should be at each location ect Willcox you know ?

I have confirmed on Cold Max it presses in the Hot water valve solenoid behind the glove box. Is there a way to test this yellow or black solenoid ?

Clutch Compressor
No power
No ground

It can be jumped but wont stay on. The car was gassed before i got it but i will check it tomorrow if i can at the shop.

A/C Compressor Clutch Solenoid i have checked the ohms on the compressor with no plug and its 4 ohms - manual says 3.7 ohms so looks fine

Pressure switch (green/blue) plug no power , the switch ohm is 1 so open ?

Blower motor with car on and testing the Purple wire at the back of the relay plug on fire wall = no power. This is with the control switch on A/C and Max. Jumping Red and purple at the relay with car on acc but not started turns the blower on.

Blower motor switch in console checks out ok using willcox youtube testing guide. It also kicks in relay in High setting but doesnt do anything in Off, 1,2,3

Blower motor resistor; i am unaware of how to test / check this ?

Compressor Control Switch hisses and sounds like it leaks at certain sections of the function control lever so i have replacement on the way

Wiring diagram shows a compressor control switch with light blue and dark green wires that go to the pressure switch and compressor but i cant see it in the engine bay at all ....

I have checked all vacuum lines and they all go where they are supposed to..

HEATER A/C Fuse
Location: 25A Fuse Panel

Function Control Switch & Blower switch
Location: Console
Part No: 32557 Compressor switch goes on “Instrument panel wiring harness plug” . A9085 Blower switch
Testing: Blower switch testing watch
. For compressor switch ohms for each section

Blower Motor
Location: Top corner left side of engine bay, in under fender
Part No: Motor 26469, Just the fan 27261
Testing: Jump red wire to the purple wire that goes to the fan motor and the motor spins up

Blower Resistor
Location: Next to blower motor, bolted into the black box with 4 wires (dark blue, light blue, brown and tan). You will see the plug only. When the resistor fails, the fan will often work on the highest speed setting and not any lower speed
Part No: 27260
Testing: s

High Speed Blower Relay
Location: Left side of windscreen wiper motor on fire wall
Part No: A8158
Testing: relay appears to be functioning, hear it click when fan switch is set to high setting. No air from means this or fuse may be blown.

A/C Compressor Clutch Solenoid
Location: Part of A/C Clutch
Part No: s
Testing: 3.7 Ohms across the 2 terminals with plug off it .

Compressor Control Switch
Location: Console where the vacuum lines connect to.
Part No: 32556
Testing: If you hear hissing when you change the selector from A/C Max / Normal, Vent, HTR, DFT then this may be broken.

Compressor Pressure Cycling Switch
Location: In between the condenser and Evaporator, rubber plug with (light green and light blue wires)
Part No: 40680
Testing: Start car and turn the ac on to "max". Remove the sensor connector from the large suction line of the AC and short the contacts. Compressor's clutch should pull in and stay in (on). If it doesn't you either have a broken wire some place or the compressors' clutch is defective.

Hot water valve solenoid
Location: Inside behind glove box. Either yellow or black which the hot – cold switch lever pushes on
Part No: s

Idle Speed Solenoid
Location: Top left side of engine = Drivers side of carby
Part No: ?

I will fix the headings later as its late and will update with pics.. Anyone can help with missing info and insight into my constant heat issues and no power to clutch and other parts of the system?

Thanks

What year is the car? I looked at your profile, no year listed.

yes 1980 corvette cali.

Blower relay works.
I took 25amp fuse and wiggled it back on, blower motor turns on with HIGH switch on high when car key is turned on (car not running).

You then get power to motor , power to orange , purple and red wire on plug going to relay. Get power going to the cycling switch but not to AC.

Turns out AC is empty so switch works BUT

When car key is turned on, blower works on High but soon you as move it to 3,2,1 it goes off. put it back on high and it wont work unless i giggle the fuse box and it works again. but if it was loose wire then the blower should not cut off just becuase i move switch.. also when i giggle the fuse box i can hear a realy click ?? how is this supposed to work. does everyones switch work with car not running and can they change fan speeds with car off?

Thanks
