Here's a good one.
Replacing the Headlight Door Bushings, and using engine vacuum to raise the doors, I discovered, by way of the ignition switch, the engine doesn't shut off if the headlights are left ON.
I had replaced the Park/Headlight/Vacuum switch a while back, and noticed this winter that when first turning the engine on, the parking lights come on (without touching the light switch). I'll bet that replacement switch is causing this problem.
Sounds like there is a short between the ignition circuit and the parking light circuit. They are backfeeding each other.
I agree. The fact the parkers are illuminating with the ignition switch on tells us of the contact between them.
But....
Now I finished the bushing job (RH side), installed both headlights, and now I can't duplicate the problem. Could this ignition problem had arose because the headlight bulbs were disconnected?
I wasn't really planning on troubleshooting electrons tonight, ya know.
I doubt the headlight bulbs had anything to do with it but you could take them out and see if the issue returns. You may have moved some wires and eliminated the short.
