Here I am in the middle of my auto-to-manual conversion on my 81 and I remove the flex plate, and viola! There's a pilot bushing in there. I didn't expect that, maybe they all come like that. Note that this is a GM crate engine ~2007. Anyways, I had done a bunch of searching and even had a forum member send me one ( a real Autogear which was nice). Ugh. So I guess I'll use the one in there already if it's ok and fits up.
Any problem with going ahead and using this one? Being that it has been in there unused for ~7 years. Could it be 'dried out'?
Should be in better shape than one that was used for 7 years. Do yourself a favor, though. Before you go any further, see if the nose of the tranny will slip into the bushing before you bolt more parts on. If it's too tight and you have to take it out, better now than later.
