has anyone had the problem of the lid assembly not sitting at the same height as the rear deck? My 71 convertible lid sits 3/16" higher than the rear deck. I've been told to remove shim at the rear hinge to lid. there isn't a shim there. Also, told to remove the shim(s) and possible the spacer at the bottom of the hinge assembly? Sounds good, but before I take this project on has anyone really done this with success? The front of the lid is flush with the rear deck area. This is without the weather strip in place. Gaps all look good, just the height. Could the springs be bad? appreciate anyone's help who have fix this problem on their C3.
thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
The AIM shows both a spacer and shims between the bottom surface of the hinge and the reinforcing assembly on the under body.
A bolt passes through the bottom of the hinge , the shims, the spacer, and then into the reinforcing assembly.
From the drawing it looks like a likely place to make the adjustment you need.

Good Luck!

Mike, can you post a picture or two of your hinge set up?. I have a convertible deck lid that seems to fit quite well (lucky?) and I'm not quite getting the detail of your set up.
Double check the shims, they are under the tower and not easy to see. I'd try that first, then you may want to loosen bolts 12 from the tower push upwards on the deck lid. This will usually give you about 1/8" of upward movement. And let me tell you, those bolts are very hard to reach.
