Side pipe tubes

I am having an issue replacing my muffler inserts.
There is some corrosion inside the tubes preventing me from seating the mufflers. Can only insert a couple inches and the stop. Any suggestions

Wire brush for a 3/8" drill and have at 'er or just a wire brush.

You could also bend the flanges in a skosh. Mine were rattling originally. Had to take the pipes back off and bend the muffler flanges out so they were tight enough not to rattle.

Side tube corrosion

Guys I bought 3 12` extensions and a 4` wire wheel. Used a power drill and cleaned the inside of the tube very well. Sprayed carb cleaner in and worked on them 30 minutes all came out very well. Tubes are hung and I am now DEAF. Dougs freeflow glass packs are ecking LOUD.
