Transmission oil pan
Bought an aluminum oil pan for my 71 small-block coupe w/400 turbo trans. Had to change filter & pan gasket so figured I would order one w/a drain plug for future maint. Started installing pan & was ready for transmission cable bracket to be installed & the dang thing is about 3/16" off from lining up w/the holes in the transmission. Has anyone else run into this problem. I do not know if I should grind the extra off of the bracket/wobble the holes on the bracket/or grind a groove in the pan. It is up against the pan as far as it will allow. I guess it is because the sides of the pan are thicker than the steel ones I have tried. Please help!!!

Yeah, pretty common when running an aluminum pan, the flage is considerably thicker than the stamped steel version so some brackets don't fit.
You can bend the bracket and/or mark and grind some clearance on the lip of the pan.

I'd grind the bracket sides to get it to fit, easier than trying to clearance the pan
