Default Intake Selection

I have the motor out of my 79 L-82 and I want to put a new intake and carb on it. I contacted Jegs tech support and they only recommended one combination that would fit. Here is their recommendation:

"The only manifold that will fit under your stock hood is a 350-2101K and I would pair that with a 350-1406 Carb."

From what I have been reading most people are recommending the Holly Street Avenger Carbs, but what intake will "fit" under the stock hood with a Holly?

There are many cobinations that work.

Assuming your intake and carb are in proper working condition, there will be no power difference although you may go a little faster with a lighter wallet.

The 79 L-82 intake is a nice aluminum intake that will flow about as well as the Edelbrock Performer.

The Performer RPM mentioned above will free up some high end power vs the stock intake or 2101, but you'll need to run a drop base air cleaner to fit it.

I run an R.P.M Air Gap with a 1/2 " spacer and quick fuel 750 with a dropped base air cleaner.
I wouls agree the R.P.M Air Gap is a better way to go particularly if you plan future changes. the Performer really isn't that great, its better for pickups etc.
