Tons of questions on here about what works and what does not with regard to hood clearance. For those who have made changes, lets see if we can get a list started for reference to help get some good data. Try and keep this format...

1981
SB 350
L-48/L-81 (stock low rise hood)
Edelbrock 2101 Performer Intake
Edelbrock 1406 Carb
Stock Air Cleaner with Stock Cold Air Intake
It fits but has only 1/4 inch of clearance verified with the playdough method. Had to install a 1/2 inch aluminum spacer/adapter to make stock air cleaner fit the new carb. Also had to move one metal tube on bottom of air cleaner to allow the fuel pump to open fully.
1979
427 dart SHP
Titan single plain plastic AFR intake
Custom ram air/Cold air intake with 14" X 3" filter
Stock hood and L88 hood both
EZ EFI 2.0 fuel injection.
Everything fits great:-)
this is with my old 383

1980
383 SB
Stock hood - L48 (for now)
Q-Jet
Performer RPM
Proform - 1 1/2" drop
About 3/8" of clearance. When I put a different hood on it, I hope to put the stock air cleaner back on.
1977
454
Stock hood
Edelbrock carb
Performer RPM Air Gap
Edelbrock 1" drop base w/ 3" air filter
Doesn't fit (I knew it wouldn't) Going to be adding hood scoop; probably stinger style. Need about 2 to 3 more inches of clearance.
1980
350
Stock hood
Holley 650DP
Edelbrock 2101 w 1" spacer
Spectre 14" dia. dual snorkel air box plumbed to factory cold air location
5/8" clearance at from edge of air box
77
383 sbc
stock hood
Quadrajet
Edelbrock air gap RPM + 3/4 thick adapter (spreadbore to square)
14x3 open element air cleaner with 2 inch drop base
very tight fit, but it fits
That is a great looking intake/filter set up. Have you provided any build info in a previous thread, or can you elaborate on how you made it up. Looks like various available parts combined with your customization to put it all together for a great result.
Fits good made My own solid Motor Mounts that lowered Engine by about 3/4 inch to fit the Truck fuel injection manifold, but eventually went to Carb instead.

1. 1976
2. SBC 434
3. L-48
4. Quick Fuel SS VS 780
5. Edlebrock Performer RPM Air Gap
6. Chevrolet Performance drop base
7. 2.5" K&N but 3" works. With the 3", the lid will rub on the hood insulation, which is fine, but my air cleaner lid has custom graphics so I use the 2.5".
Also have a poly motor mounts...do not know if that changes the engine height or not.
do you have pics of your set up? I just put a 454 in my 75 and the choke horn on the holley hit the hood with no air cleaner!
No way I wanted to change the stock look of my car with the 454 in it, so the secret is a new choke-less 750 Holley, it allows for the flat cap and bolt to clear the hood by about an inch with the ole tin foil test. Car starts just fine without a choke all year long, feather the pedal for a few seconds and its good to go.
To purchase another hood, and do more paint and body work, this was the best move for me, plus it looks stock.
