I don't want to sound amateurish but..... I cannot find a kick down linkage or whatever for this 1969 350/400 combo. It shift through the gears fine but no passing gear and the shift points is what they are...no matter how much in the throttle I am.
It has been so long, 1982 to be exact, since I had anything with an automatic in it so memory is foggy. Then it seems it was a separate cable.
The TH400 uses an electric kick down switch that is located by the gas pedal. If you lay your head on the floor and look up at your accelerator pedal you should be able to see the switch that get activated when you punch it.
Awesome, thank you thank you thank you....!!! Found it and one plug was off.

I hope this helps.

ps, not a Corvette but, you get the picture.
Does it matter how the switch is turned when reinstalled?
Yes. The switch is normally open. When you open the throttle it slides the arm on the switch to the rear and closes the switch. It's spring loaded to the open position.
I just fixed my kickdown switch on my '73. I purchased a new one from Eckler's corvette for $30.00, installed it within 5 minutes and it works perfectly. I did add some 3/8" rubber hose to the top of the gas pedal as well as a small piece on the round part of the switch itself to ensure it made contact.
BEFORE, adding the switch the car was no fun to drive but what a difference after installing this! It woke up my engine and its pretty exhilarating when the tranny drops to 2nd gear, RPM's rise and you blast down the Hwy.
I'm also running the original 3.36 gears on my car. I think if I was running a 3.73 or higher I may not want the kickdown switch installed as the RPM's might increase too much, I'm not sure though.
The switch was broken on my project......I replaced itbut still haven't driven the car yet......I also added a 1" diameter black rubber grommet onto the switch sliding rod so I wouldn't have to floor it in order to go into passing gear/now it should kick in at 3/4 throttle.......
