Default Weird Steering problem

Since I can now drive my Vette on the road, I have noticed something weird. Starting out my steering wheel is straight. If I take right turns it then is about 1/4 turn to the right. If I turn left, it is then 1/4 turn off to the left. It's almost as if something is skipping gears, but it turns just fine. Is there something that may be loose causing this?

What year is your car?

Does it have a manual steering box......or power steering?

Also.......have someone sit in the driver's seat with the hood open.....let them turn the steering wheel VERY slowly one turn to the left.

Does the steering shaft that enters the steering box turn the same amount as the steering wheel?

Now......turn the steering wheel back to center..........let them turn the steering wheel VERY slowly one turn to the right.

Does the steering shaft that enters the steering box turn the same amount as the steering wheel?

Now......Do the same tests above while watching the Pitman arm that is located on the bottom of the steering box......what are the results for the Pitman arm tests?

There are other visual tests that can be done for the lower linkage, but the above tests need to be done first.

Post your results here (a video of each test would be good, but not necessary)

does the car still track straight after the turn or will it drift in the turn direction?

Ended up just being an alignment issue. Problem solved.

No "alignment problem" would do what your steering is doing....unless there were bolts/nuts left loose. Your ragjoint is probably "toast".
