Default 625 cfm Street Demon Question!

Is anyone out there running this carb? I need to know if the demon drop base that you can order on the demon website has enough drop to prevent any hood clearance issues, if so what drop base did y'all order that works with this carb? I'm running a 2 3/4 filter! Please let me know if there are any other things I should know before I bolt this sucker on tomorrow? Thanks for your help!

Ok I have an install issue.....the vacuum fitting on the back of the intake manifold which runs to both the trans and the brakes it hitting on the PCV port on the back of the carb. Will a Y fitting correct this issue ? I do not have room to run a spacer. The fitting that is on there now has one male end pointing up and another at a 90 degree angle off the side going to the brakes......anyone have this issue? If so what's the fix?

I had the same issue. Went to a local parts store and bought a block off for the port.
I drilled and tapped a hole on each side of the edlebrock manifold and installed fittings in each. While drilling the holes I coated my bit in axle grease to pick up the shavings and cleaned/regreased the bit after every 1/8th of an inch. You dont want shavings dropping in the intake!

Im running a Street demon 625cfm on a edlebrock preformer intake. Im using a 10" edlebrock air cleaner and the element it came with (have to measure it). The air cleaner just barely touches the inside of the hood on the front edge.

I would post pics but I just pulled the engine today so I can drop a 383 vortec stroker in it. I plan on putting the SD back on it for now and maybe putting the TBI setup I have in the garage on it later.

Edit: Forgot to say. I have a 76. If you are anywhere near Pensacola Florida we can swap manifolds so you dont have to drill yours.

Thanks for the post brother I do appreciate it. I have been tooling with this demon carb all day and I think I've about had it. I would drill it but I don't trust myself to do it and it's a one shot deal before your putting on a new manifold.

Nonetheless, I put the old carb back on (edelbrock 600 performer). Tomorrow I am going to take it back to advanced and swap it out for a edelbrock 650 AVS Thunder Series. My 600 I'd doggie and I'm hoping the 650 will cure that.

Unless there is another carb out there that will work better that will be a true bolt on.....if so please let me know if I have any other options.

Thanks

I used to have an edelbrock AVS thunder when I first got my 72 10 years ago. I got rid of it when it flooded all over my intake manifold. Then I tried the speed demons, they were crap straight out the box. I only use Quick Fuel carbs now. If you live somewhere warm get rid of the choke and you can run a bigger drop base. Or you can do what I did, i just cut around the carb choke housing on the drop base and used some foam around the hole to prevent unwanted particle from getting in the carb. Eventually, I just stopped fighting it and cut the hood. It is much happier this way!

Hey King, do you think my stock LT-1 drop down filter base will fit over a Quick Fuel 750 with an electric choke? I've been thinking about doing this to replace my old '72 Holley (stock).
