Default Intake Manifold Carb Bolt Issue

Hi, after installing the intake manifold on my 73 I broke off a carburetor bolt while putting her back together. In an attempt to get the broken piece out I destroyed the threads on the intake. I used a helicoil and it appears to seat pretty well. Before I put everything back together I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on whether this is the best way to handle the issue. I would hate to get it all back together and have to deal with a possible vacuum leak only to take it all apart again. Thanks!

It should work well, the carb bolts don't need to be very tight anyway.

Use studs in the intake, then a nut on the stud after the carb is in place, I do not believe it will leak, but if you want to really have piece of mind before you install the stud in the intake put some silicone sealer on it,

Stud kit

You should check the torque specs for the carb. It isn't very high.

Helicoils are stronger than aluminum threads, and less likely to seize.

As long as the helicoil is below the mounting pad and you didn't drill through the intake installing it, vacuum leaks will not be a concern.

I agree, should work fine... just use a quality gasket.
