On my '74 there is a door in the hood that opens with wide open throttle for cold air to enter the top of the air cleaner.
Is there a way to test the operation of this door? Should it open with WOT if the engine is not running but the ignition in run.
Is there an interlock I need to bridge to make the door open with WOT and the ignition in run?
Thanks
Just renovated mine on my 73. I just turn the key on and push the accelerator to the floor and the flapper will open. I had mine off of the
hood and the unit setting on the air filter at the time and was easy to see.
I don't have a '74 Chev Chassis Service Manual. But, I suspect there is some interlock on that door that is dependent on the engine being up to temp. (Temp switch/relay also in that circuit?) You just need to see the wiring schematic for that door operation.
The above procedure sounds easiest... I once just used a battery "jump" power box on one ..It was on "MiltonFox's" C3 .. We had the hood off at the time.....
