Oil Gallery Plug Sealer
Im just starting to assemble a motor. I have a freshly honed Motown block. It was boiled and cleaned after machining but I want to go through it and make sure no metal shards are hiding inside the oil passages. The gallery plugs on e blocks are threaded but I still want to apply sealer. I had Permatex 1 (cures hard) and Permatex aviation gasket maker suggested. Any other thoughts?

You can take the plugs out and use a rifle cleaning Kit but it's not necessary. If it's boiled and hosed off, then blasted with an air hose. It's clean. Your threaded pipe plugs on the front of the block need NO sealer. Just tighten them up and take a chisel and stake the edges. Same with the none threaded plugs. The rear plugs you can use a little bit of sealer Assemble your motor and prime the oil pump with a drill before installing. Make sure all the rockers get oil and no oil seeping out the seals, then seal it up for the install.
