i like this post "been there seen that" so to speak and that is exactly what i will do Nitto instead of M/T drag radials or ..this car will never be in the rain or threat of rain and first agreement was 600hp then backed off and 565hp after i said too much and went to 516hp at a lower rpm the speed shop refused to go along it is not a labor time or money thing he a old friend and anything under 7 grand is idling. ok so 275/60 r15 Nitto in rear what do we use up front?
i jus bought a pair of nittos and i like them a lot however , Mickey Thompson has added a new drag radial expected out in june that has 20% more grip on wet roads. thus adding yet another choice. drag radials were my only choice but i wonder now why i waited so long. i could have used them 35 yrs ago.
they seem to be more and more popular at car meets in last five years.this being said i will wait a little longer and see what the latest and greatest is in size 275/60/r15.i still have a month before serious driving. Richie wanted to set up car with a home made high rise manifold and the new throttle body injection with crazy roller cam,i have the room under the L-88 long hood but i am not capable of driving a car with that kind of hp nor 8000 rpm.
Consider loosing the AT kickdown cable and install a good shifter. I was passing a car at around 50 or so, got in the throttle a little harder than I should have, and almost hit an old lady in her driver door when it downshifted. I went home and got rid of the cable that night. You have enough HP you don't need that to pass anything
the goodyear 225`s tires were useless so i listen to the crowd and purchase Nitto 555 drag radials in 275/60/R-15 and mounted on rally rims . the emergency brake tab will just touch tires so i must relocate as others have done.did you mount on top of trailing arm and route the cable over top?????did you release tension from adjuster in middle of car were the two cables come together into one with double nut adjuster or did you remove calipers, pull off rotors to expose EB. and release.
Capt Bob you missed a post that really matters.. A 700R4 is going to make it worse when you take off . 3.06 First gear vs your th400 2.48 ..
i realize the implications but with these sticky drag radials i feel i can just go easy to start off then hit it from a roll.i remove the 3.36 and made rear differentials perfect with 3.55 i am not going to remove and go to 3.08 . like some guys said learn to drive it.like i said i had 3 big block 67 vettes in a row that were not even close to this at low end/mid range. incidentally the Mellings 55A high volume oil pump with welded 3/4" pick up in 8 quarts of oil with 55psi. at idle is the ticket for long life.had it up to 7000rpm last weak -----damn pin you in the seat!

A big part is getting use to the new found glory, another thing to look forward to is when you get comfortable and it sneaks up on you.
If this thread is real and not a joke (I'm not sure because some of his posts are really painful to read), as was said before, you need to learn how to drive.
i relocated EB bracket and mounted Nitto 555 275/60/R-15 drag radials and now must readjust EM brakes .weather is improving and i will put some miles on engine before the switch to 700R-4 gears.
