Default Unknown connector

Hello guys,

today I came across a connector in my C3 which makes me frown. It is a round rubber connector at the end of two wires (one black, the other white or maybe yellow) that come out of the backside of the fusebox on the firewall. It just hung down there unconnected. My car is a ´74 model, 454 cui, manual, w/o air condition. It would be great if someone has got an idea what this connector is for.

thanks & regards

Fritz

Hi Fritz,
Not sure what the brake warning sensor on the brake distribution block looks like in 74.… maybe there?
Or, how about the temperature sender in the left side head…. does it reach that far?
Regards,
Alan

Here's the brake sensor in 71… just 1 wire.

Could it be the plug for the anti theft switch?

That is 100 percent correct. It is the connector for the alarm cylinder limit switch , here is a clearer picture.

This is the same connector used up front on the headlamp limit switch (same switch) for all 68-82 cars.

Thank you guys,
but anti theft switch and brake distribution block are properly connected. Could it be a connector for an air conditioning component that remains unused as my car is without a/c?

kind regards

Fritz

Fritz...

Are you sure? ?

There are two sets of wires by the alarm switch.
One set that goes on the actual alarm cylinder lock and one set that goes on the black limit switch.

The limit switch has a small button that pushes against the cylinder and if the alarm switch is moved or removed it sets off the alarm. The second set of wires should be It plugs into number 3 in the picture above. There really isn't anything else in that general area that would use that plug.

The cowl solenoid used a single wire connector

Here is the tamper switch
