Yeah one of these. I have the complete interior apart including the dash. While I have the dash out should I change out the heater core or is it best to leave sleeping dogs alone?
And if I do change it, which heater core do you recommend? I read on a few parts suppliers pages reviews that the heater core is too small and doesn't fit.
I have an A/C car so should I replace any of the A/C parts while I'm into the heater core? The A/C currently doesn't work because I'm not getting any power to any of the gauges or controls (which is why the dash is out) but "might" work once I fix the power issue.
When you have the heater box out of the car there really isn't any ac stuff to replace on the inside of the box. I have a troubleshooting page on the site for the AC heater controls, but again I'd need to know what year the car is.

Sorry it's a 1975.
As for the A/C parts I was kind of referring to the vent door, actuator and other things I might not know about.
While you are there, change out the seals on the A/C box. If you change out the heater core, make sure your new core does not leak. You can do this by putting the core underwater and filling it with a supply of low pressure air and looking for bubbles. I have had new cores leak out of the box. Jerry

Hi and welcome!
If you do decide to change the heater core be sure to order the 'molded' hoses as the auto parts hoses will kink.
Also when installing the new hoses be very careful not to move the fittings on the new core as you can break the connection.
For the electrical problem:
Start be making sure the 'heater' fuse can pass power from one side to the other.
You need the key 'on' to power up the heater controls.
