I am about to remove transmission and engine from 1970 c3 454; where are the lifting points, there is an original lifting bracket at the front of the engine on top of the intake manifold, is it ok to use that, but then where do you attach it at the rear?

Yes you can use the existing strap and just place a bolt in the rear of the head on the opposite side.i have done it this way many times
Hi PBC,
Originally there was a lifting eye mounted to one of the upper bell housing to engine block bolts on the upper right of the bell housing.
Since your front lifting eye is still there the rear eye could be too.
You will see it by peering down behind the rear of the right side valve cover.
Good Luck!

Alan
