Default Convertible Header Alignment - 75

Question for the pros;
Is there a left to right adjustment for the front pins on the convertible top headers? My convertible top frame was off the car when I got it and now that I have finished with the interior, to include new windshield corner molding which lined up with windshield frame screw holes when I put them on. I am now starting to work on my top frame and took the header off (going to replace it due to rust) and thought I would just try it to see if it would work and it will not line up left to right.

I have not taken the little bolts out that hold the pins to the header to see if there is any adjustment, maybe I should have done that before I asked.

Help is appreciated as always.

Everything is adjustable but if the pins fall into place by hand and you can latch it. That's good enough for most.

Mine are like that, even more offset. But when I pull the top over and latch it down, it fits correctly. I think the frame is a little warped or maybe the top is stretched off kilter. If I did move the pins-not even sure if I could-the top wouldn't fit right.

If you want it very close, do this........

Measure across the upper windshield frame from hole to hole....make a mark halfway between each hole with a marking pen.

Then measure across the convertible top leading edge from latch to latch....put a piece of tape at the centerpoint of the leading edge and mark the center with the marking pen.

How close do the two marks match up when the top bow rest on the top of the windshield frame? If the marks do not line up, the frame or top material is causing the mis-alignment which is no big deal (you can adjust the frame mounting brackets where they bolt to the inside of the car behind the seats until you cause the marks to line up closer together).

You can now loosen the screws that hold the chrome pins in place....there are slots in the pin mounting plates....slide the pins left or right to cause the two marks to line up.....tighten the pin mounting screws....push the top bow left or right if necessary to line the pins up with the holes.....lock the clamps in place.

Do the marks line up now?

Adjust the pins again if needed to get the marks to line up to your liking.

FYI.......most members just nudge the top left or right to make the chrome pins line up over the holes......then they latch the top in place.

Default Problem solved..I should have checked before I asked

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I just found a socket to loosen the pin and there is plenty of adjustment capability with the pin bolts loosen.

I should have checked first, but as always this forum is made up of special people who are always willing to help. Even those of us who don't do dillengence before we reach out for help.
