Default '76 driver side power window

I had the power window quit working on the driver's side of my '76 last weekend. opened everything up and found that the wires were severed within the door boot. There's not enough wire exposed to realistically get in and splice it back together but I worked a quick temporary to at least get the window all the way up.

Question - I can't see forking over $100+ for a power window harness set when I know the problem is only two wires that will probably cost me $10 and a 6-pack to get through the fix. I was unable to locate where the 2 wires come through the other side but I know 'bubba' has been in here before with electrical tape out the wazoo under/behind my dash. What I'm trying to find is where the two wires terminate within or outside the harness so that I can simply replace these two wires only with new ones. I plan to disconnect the 2 culprits and terminate (or pull out entirely if I can) and connect the 2 new ones and zip tie to the harness. Also - is there a particular brand of wire that is 'more appropriate' when replacing them?

Any help would be great.

Thx!

i believe the wires orginate at the power window switch. this dwg.is for a 78 but should be similar. the end connector at the switch is a special flat connector you may have to splice into it. or pry it open and reuse the oem wire connector or get a new one.

Remove the door panel, the door sill and the lower kick panel.
With the kick panel removed pull the broken wire out of the conduit (door boot) and splice on some new multi strand wire.
Feed the new wire into the boot and splice the new wire into the wires in the door.
