I need a quite set of side pipes to run the car at Lime Rock. Burns mentioned it was possible. He asked the size of the header primary tubes. They seem to measure around and 1 ⅜ to 1 ½ to an inches. The car is a small block (350)
Does that sound correct? Does anyone know the actual measurement?

Never mind guys. They are not square. about 1.45 and 1.55
Thought they were square and thought I was going crazy.
I have a 1972 454 coupe that I bought new and wanted side pipes when I ordered it but they were not available (1969 was the only year they were offered for a C3). In 1978 after I had replaced the stock mufflers twice and needed to do so again I said this is nuts and contacted GM to see if they still made replacement side pipes for the C3 model. They did, so I ordered a set of pipes and covers, plus a backup set of pipes not knowing how long they would last, and had them installed. I should have done this when the car was new. They sound great, I have never noticed a loss in power, and with the covers on I can drive 100 miles, stop and put my hands on them they are barely warm. No chance of burning anything. And the best part is those originals are still on the car 41 years later. I have the extra set that I ordered in my basement, complete with the GM part labels still attached.
