Hey all. Need a specific answer, tried searching and I couldn't find it.
I have a 78 vette that I dropped a different 350 into. I put on the original AC, power steering, and alternator brackets onto the engine. But now the water pump and crankshaft pulleys do not line up with the accessories. The belts are cocked at an angle.
I'm replacing the water pump, it was long and sticking out from the block. So I bought one specifically for a 1978 Corvette. But I'm trying to figure out something else.
Is a crankshaft pulley (3 groove) from a 77 the same from a 78? Were there any changes? Any help is appreciated, this car is beginning to drive me insane!!!!
where does the 77 come into this mix, if you use the correct short style water pump for a 78 and all the other parts are the original everything should line up.

It's because my crankshaft pulley is not lining up correctly either. The only things that are not lining up are my water pump pulley and my crankshaft pulley.
Sorry I should have explained it clearer. I basically just need to know if there is a difference between a crankshaft pulley from a 77 and a 78.
looking in the December 83 edition of the Parts and Illustration Catalog 75 to 82 use the same crankshaft pulleys. I assume you have AC. The thing is they show a 1 groove, 6 11/16", pulley and a separate 2 groove pulley, 7 3/4".

Okay thanks for the info. I'm gonna take a shot on it!
