Default C3 Headlight Problems

My headlights are not popping up when I turn them on. I have checked the vacuum lines and they are in good shape. While under the car I noticed a 2 wire connector on the driver's side not plugged into anything. On the passenger side that same wire is plugged into a small(about the size of a walnut) plug on the light bracket. I am thinking the driver's side is missing, but I have no idea what that piece would be called.

Those are for the warning lights only. Should have zero effect on the operation. Only lights up on the gauge cluster if the lights don't come all the way up when they are on.

Here's info on that switch just for future reference (BTW they are plastic and VERY easily broken

Thanks for the information. They look like they could break easily. Now, I just have to figure out why my lights will not open up. If I manually open them they stay up until I shut my car off, then they close automatically. Any suggestions.

Hi G,
In addition to pb's suggestion you might try using the headlight over-ride switch under the steering column.
When you pull down on it the lights should open even when the headlight switch is off.
If they do that would eliminate the possibility of a problem with the switch.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

It's the switch on the left.

With the car off, if you reach underneath and push the lights up, do they stay up?

If not:

The springs that hold them over center are wrong/broken/etc. There should be 4 springs

OR
The settings of the linkages / actuators is not pushing them all the way over-center where they should stay on their own.

Check by hand and see what happens
