Finally going to be busting in on my 77 this year. Just as I start looking at brakes and suspension my buddy calls me up and says he just bought an 01 roller he's going to part out. I've been googling for a couple hours, but my Google fu is off today (stressing out over a soon to be dead pet).
How much do I need from him and how much fab am I in for if I want his hubs, brakes, and suspension? I know it's been done, but I'm having a hard time finding much info on this exactly.
Eventually I'm going to go ls2/t56, but I want to build the rest of the car to handle that first.
From: I tend to be leery of any guy who doesn't own a chainsaw or a handgun.

The C5 front suspension shouldn't be a big deal to transplant if you have some fabricating and welding talent. Just decide up front if you want to run C5 or C3 type wheels, as that affects the trackwidth and brake rotor diameter calculations.
The rear suspension is a bit more work due to the location of the upper control arm inner pivots competing for room that is currently occupied by the frame rails and the rear storage boxes. But it can be done.
There are aftermarket frames available to use C5 suspensions. It's a cash tradeoff for speeding up the conversion process. You just have to count your resources and your available time to complete the project, and then decide which way to go.
Be sure to post some pictures when you get into the suspension changeover.
Check SRIII Motorsports site. It's been done with the torque tube and rear trans, but the C3 body required a little stretch...probably to keep the trans out from between the seats...? I agree that would be a huge job.
