Windshield wiper problem - 1982
When I tested the receptacle to the wiper motor with a volt meter, I noticed that the end wire (the one that is supposed to control "park") was staying on continously, not allowing the wiper to park.
I then pulled the switch out and while the wiper was running, I disconnected the receptable that has only 3 wires, the wiper then parked themselves.
I also turned the receptacle on the motor around backwards just to see if the ground controlling the "high speed" would tell me something. Sure enough, when I switched it to high speed and the motor parked itself like I expected it to.
Since I pulled the plug from the switch, that tells me that there is not a problem with the wiring harness grounding itself out.
The problem has to be the switch or maybe a relay.
I then "borrowed" the switch from my 81 and tried it. Same result. That tells me that that chances are the switch is not the problem unless both switches happen to be bad (could be possible though).
But when I removed the 3 wire plug from the switch, I could hear a clicking noise coming from the compartment behind the passenger seat. It sounds like a relay back there that is connected to teh system.
Could there be a relay there that needs testing/replacing?
Am I missing something?
A wiring diagram with a relay would be helpful as well.
Thanks
