Default Power Steering

I have a 75 L48. Last year a weld broke on the front right and the tire on the bottom of the frame wasnt fully connected. I limped it home and had it reparied, the stearing seemed stiff at the ends but otherwise was fine. After 3 months of storage for winter i got it out and now it feels like there is no power steering at all. Can someone help me identify the possible problem, pump? control valve? cylinder? I am not sure how to troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks.

Are you sure air didn't settle in the cylinder or valve? If it were low on fluid it would squeal but if it has a air lock it would just feel hard.

You can purge the air from the system by turning the wheels toward the right and holding it for a second or two, then reverse and do the same to the left (you'll hear it moan). This should purge the air out and see if the problem persist.

If that doesn't work then I would take a look at the control valve, possibly a blocked port where a hose connects (doubtful), or a pinched hose. Also make sure you have the hoses installed properly (a common problem and you'll notice below in view B of the second picture, they are x'd).

I haven't touched the PS for a long time so the hoses havent changed. I dont believe it is an air lock.

Is it possible a hose is kinked or pinched? Did you check the fluid level?
