Default radiator support replacement

Greetings:

I have a 75 Vette with auto trans & AC, its in good shape 116,000mi.
I need a new radiator core support.

Are these hard to install?
I looked in my haynes manual, and it doesn't address this.

Thanx in advance

I replace the one in my 69 a few years ago during a conversion from factory air to a Vintage Air system. It was not too bad at all, had to pull the hood and I pulled the evaporator and radiator out which gave more room to work the old one out and new one in. I believe my new replacement support came from Wilcox one of the great forum vendors.

Thought the second pic would help of the old support, mine was rusted out on the bottom.

If you haven't yet do it now, brace up your front end at the points where your support came out of. Your rad support actually helps keep the top of your fenders from sagging in. A 2x4 across the points where your support can out of should do it. I had my support out for a few weeks and had a hard time getting it back in because of the sagging.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but does anyone have a picture of how the 69 core support bolts to the front cross member? Thanks

73-76 early support is one of the hardest there is to change out.

We remove the hood for additional clearance. If you don't you'll have issues clearing the shroud out from around the front suspension. This job just takes time and patience more than skill, and be careful not to damage the condenser or the radiator when you do the work.

First buy an AIM. it will help in almost every repair you do.

I did my support a couple of years ago. its not hard but it is a PITA.

Hood removal will make it easier for sure. I didnt remove it though.

I bought mine from Full Throttle. it fit quite nicely.

there are bolts in the bottom and 3 in the fender wells. Take the wheels off to help get to them. all shown in the AIM and in Wilcox's photo.

Removing the right side suspension will help greatly. it gets in the way of the rad outlet.

As said before, time and patience are the key. take a weekend and remove one day and replace the next. Youll keep your sanity. Beer helps.

clean all threads to help install, chase them if you have a tap.

Oh and take the fan off. it will help from damaging the rad.
