Default 75 Vette tires

Greetings
What size tires fit a 75 stock vette?

Where is a good place to get them, least expensive.

Thanx

225-70-15 front $240: Discount Tire.
255-60-15 rear $250: NTB

I also have Cooper Cobras, 235/60R15 all around. Not sure what they cost now but definitely on the cheaper side.

Hi Allena;
Cooper Cobra 245 60 15 all around with no rubbing issues. Lemon pledge for tire dressing, gives a nice sheen and no sticky/greasy mess.

Next set I might go with 235 70 15, the higher aspect ratio may fill up the wheel well better.

Assuming 15" rims, I just put a set of 245/60TR/15 Cooper Cobras GT's on my F-41 ride-height 71 Coupe and they work well on the street.

I had some old discontinued 255/60ZR/15 BFG R1 DOT legal race tires on prior to them, and while they stuck incredibly well they were a nightmare in truck troughs on the the freeway.

The Cooper Cobras GT's don't stick near as well, but track straight and ride well (and they're relatively cheap vs BFG Radial TA and Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T).

Hoosier and Mickey Thompson also have some better H-Rated 15" tires, but they're very expensive...

Default my experience....

Discount Tire Direct, BFG 255 60 15, have bought 2 or 3 sets now and happy with them, good price and good tire. Put one set on a 76 and worked great, no rubbing. Set on the 68 has a very slight rub at extreme full right or left which I can live with that.

If you watch or get on their mailing list, they have a sale every once in a while, too.

I put two 275/60/15 cooper cobras on the back of my C3 last week, just under $250 out the door at Discount Tire. For some reason, the 255/60/15s were going to be closer to $300. I couldn't bring myself to pay more for less tire. The extra height is helping bring my freeway RPMs down as well.

Where some cars have to be careful with 255/60/15's in the front on C3's not trimmed for them is in high speed braking where the nose dives etc.

Sometimes the 255/60/15's will rub up front with the wheels relatively straight ahead, depends on the individual car (my 71 coupe barely rubbed with that size under max effort high speed braking, so I went with 245/60/15's just to be safe (mine has VB&P F-41 front springs and is at F-41 ride height).

From the 78 PC with optional 255/60/15's thru later cars that came OEM with 255/60/15's it wasn't an issue as the factory trimmed the front inner wheel well lip a tad for clearence.

If driven relatively easy on the street then likely no problem untrimmed assuming the ride height, front springs and shocks are all good (or of course you could clearence the inner fender lip a tad etc).

Shop around for the best deal once u decide what size u want which has been discussed. I've had Coopers' on several cars in the past and never had any problems. Discount tire, Mr. wheel deal and Tire rack are a few places to price them out.

The true test is maximum braking from around 85 - 100 MPH plus.

If there is any rubbing on the individual car you'd find paint on the outside of the front tires if you're lucky like I was with my 71 F41 Small Block Coupe (as otherwise you could find cracked fiberglass).

If a car with tight clearence is driven easy then likely no problem, unless of course you're forced to brake hard from high speed in an emergancy etc.
