starter question
Hi everyone. Have a starter question. I put a new summit brand mini starter on this weekend and the starter stays engaged for 2-3 seconds after the engine starts. I re-shimed it and it still does it. Do you think it is the new starter or could it be the ignition switch. Thanks

With the battery disconnected, check the starters engagement. Check if the gear is sliding smoothly onto the flywheel or is it a really tight fit. If it's a tight fit, it will hold the starter in the engaged position after you let the key off. It may get better over time but keep that battery terminal wrench handy incase it sticks on.
